Auf Einladung der Ausgräber übernahm das Schweizerische Institut seinerzeit die Dokumentation der Baubefunde. Zur Vorbereitung einer detaillierten Veröffentlichung des Kastells, das möglicherweise mit dem aus einer antiken Quelle bekannten Ort Praesentia identifiziert werden kann, und um der stark zunehmenden Gefährdung des Platzes entgegen zu treten, wurde 2005 vom Schweizerischen Institut eine Wiederaufnahme der Untersuchungen initiiert.
Das Projekt ist eine gemeinsame Unternehmung des Supreme Council of Antiquities Aswan und des Schweizerischen Instituts Kairo, in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut für Vor- und Frühgeschichtliche Archäologie und Provinzialrömische Archäologie der LMU München, und steht unter der Leitung von Prof. Michael Mackensen und Dr. Mohamed el-Bialy.
Im Fokus der Arbeiten stehen vor allem offene Fragen zur Chronologie und räumlichen Struktur des Forts.
